On October 7th 2001, American and British forces began an aerial bombing campaign on Afghanistan, targeting Taliban and Al-Qaeda forces. As a result of the bombings, at least 5,000 civilians were killed…
On January 11th 2002, Guantanamo Bay, a small island located at the south-eastern end of Cuba became home to hundreds of foreign nationals. Arriving in secret planes from locations all over the world, these individuals were left shackled for the entire journey, only to find that their reception on the Island would be far, far worse. Beaten, abused, tortured…daily occurrences at the detention facility, supposedly housing “the worst of the worst”...
On March 20th 2003, American and Allied troops began “Operation Iraqi Freedom”…an operation that has resulted in the death of at least 654,965 Iraqis.
Questions arise…has justice been served? Is the war any closer to an end? Can Guantanamo Bay ever be justified? Can the use of torture be considered an appropriate interrogation technique?
To answer some of these questions, Kingston ISOC inc congestion with London Isoc presents...Justice Week '08. A week long campaign for Justice, highlighting some of the key issues and plights around the world that have arisen as a result of the “War on Terror” |
